Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) followed up a question about marriage equality to SCOTUS nominee Amy Coney Barrett with a question about the legality of polygamy during hearings in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday morning. Graham appeared to be drawing connections between the two.

Asked Graham: “So we talk a lot about laws legalizing same-sex marriage [the Obergefell case]. If anybody tried to change that precedent one of the things you would look at is a reliance interest that people have formed around that piece of legislation?” .......(more)

Since the Obergefell decision, the nation hasn't fallen to pieces like the scaremongers predicted. In fact the only thing that's changed is that same sex couples can be married and have their marriage legally recognized wherever they are in the United States. That's it. Reviving the nontroversy over same sex marriage just isn't going to resonate with very many people.

Which means, of course, the right wing fear factory will be cranking up the lies and filing lawsuits to achieve through the courts what they can't achieve at the ballot box or in Congress.
