I dont think we will ever see or hear from him again.
Why did he do that? Something aint right.
I wish him well though.

(90,787 posts)Joining us now is Jeff Toobin. He is seated at the desk, hands held up in the air.
Even if airing from home or wherever, his hands must remain above his head for the entire show.
Because the second his hand or hands disappear(s), everyone watching will be thinking the exact same thing.
And it won't be about the news topic for the day.

Supposedly the audio was on, without his knowledge, so someone must have also heard something.

(14,838 posts)People have a right to do whatever it is they do in private.
Modern times are however bringing cameras quite literally into our bedrooms. Lack of familiarity with tech doesn't help.
For example, my wife was on a zoom call with several prominent panel members, and there was a moderator. Everyone was remote. At two points during the call, a completely naked man walked through the view behind the moderator. Woops.
If you are looking for something disqualifying, his political views get you more than there..

(14,838 posts)It's kind of like leaving your bed room shades up by accident. People are used to an expectation of privacy in their homes. People are also stupid.
If a neighbor sees something due to an error, it should have very different consequences than if it was done on purpose.
He didn't vid it and send it to someone intentionally. He certainly didn't INTEND it to be broadcast.
Accidents happen. Don't destroy someone over it.
And no, it's never happened to me.........

(36,223 posts)You would hear others speaking. Weird.

(14,838 posts)Like I said, people can be stupid.
It also comes down to app design to an extent. If someone calls me on skype, I have to be VERY careful not to hit the video button which is bigger and more prominent than the voice button. It's a PITA in the design of the product.
Yes, I could cover the cam like I do on my laptop, but I do use it on occasion.
So he clearly thought he was in listen/view only mode. Not intentional. Stuopid, but hey, even smart people people are dumb....

(14,838 posts)I'm not saying it's an appropriate thing to do. I'm saying it was unintentional and not meant for anyone to see.
That could apply to any remote work embarrassment. From getting up with no pants on to a spouse or so walking in neked to getting a personal call and ranting about a boss or coworker.
Stuff happens in your home, regardless of work duties.

(4,463 posts)... spoke on the condition of anonymity because - ewww. They said he was on another call. It must have been a girlfriend. I suspect there was some element of excitement because he was on the election simulation call at the same time. It looks like a sex in public fantasy, virtual edition, perhaps.
Thats a common fantasy. I try not to judge people on what turns them on. It might not be my cup of tea, but to each his own. No one was injured. They were consenting adults as far as I know.
His wife has a right to be upset. But she stuck with him after the Casey Greenfield affair and the love child, so maybe they have an arrangement. Who knows.
But hes obviously not as tech savvy as he thinks he is. And clearly there is a judgment deficiency. For that, hes going to pay a price. And he should.
The real question we all want an answer to now is - what are we now going to call masturbating on a zoom call?
YouToobin?
Loobin?
Zoobin?

One of the CNN Weather guys had a bad cocaine habit, got another anchor pregnant, while married to another anchor wife and CNN hired him, so CNN does give second chances....
