CBS News:
(CBS News) Ann Romney's biggest concern if her husband becomes president would be his ability to maintain his "mental well-being," she said in an interview Thursday with KTVN in Reno, Nev.
His ability to maintain his mental well-being.
His ability to maintain his mental well-being.
His ability to maintain his mental well-being.
His ability to maintain his mental well-being.
WHAT.
THE.
FUCK.
This is a man who wants to control a country with 2,150 active nuclear weapons.
This is a man who wants to control 1.4 million active duty members of the military.
This is a man who wants to...oh, wait:
Never mind. Don't worry, Ann. Your husband will be fine.

Great.

(13,141 posts)the debates could be intense in that regard,
we may witness a meltdown. One can hope.
But I feel guilty even saying that; that's how
genuine my concern is that he's cracking up.

I rest my case.
But think about this: if someone puts all of his energy, time, and (a small part of) his money into ONE thing for six years, and then is ridiculed and rejected, it would stand to reason to expect that he will lose his mind -- sooner rather than later.

(40,416 posts)I know "tak" and "sköl" mostly from Swedish fiction and movies.
My father was Norse, but didn't speak the language. My mother was a Suomilainen and was bilingual. Sköl was a big deal in my household, but that's the way we spelled it.
I would gladly be corrected by somebody who knows better.
Is it sköl or is it skål?
I think it is the former.

(45,274 posts)The "å" in the Scandinavian languages is actually a double-a, and the little circle was once written as a little "a", and it's pronounced as "aw" or "oh" depending on whether it's short or long.
The umlauted o (ø on Norw. & Dan.; ö in Sw.) is a vowel that sounds something like the vowel in Eng. "bird."
You often see Skål (old Dan. Skaal) spelled as "Skol" or "Skoal" in English orthography.

(653 posts)Romney's father's own campaign for president suffered when he said he'd been "brainwashed" in Vietnam and folks started questioning his mental fortitude.
This Romney campaign is truly the gift that just keeps on giving. Rarely does a day go by when they don't step in it in some fashion.

(6,160 posts)They just open their mouths and the most inappropriate comments come spewing out as if they have no idea that what they are saying might be anything less than appealing. It's like they think they can do no wrong. It's like they think they are above it all, above the fray. It's like the old saying about they think their "shit don't stink." It is just unfreaking believable that they don't have any better control over what they say.
If you expect to be the President and First Lady, you should at least have a modicum of decorum and the ability to process that you are trying to appeal to millions of people who have not lived the privileged life you have led.
Ann, bless your heart, you should think before you speak.
Never mind.

The Repubs, and Nancy were disgraceful to let him go on. When they found out he had Alzheimers, they should have immediately made him resign as president,

(14,881 posts)it will come out. We all do it from time to time, if deep down we don't want something or really, really deep down know we aren't truly worthy.
I think the more money and stuff people "need" to accumulate, the deeper their lack of self-worth is. Just like the more people need to "control" other people, the less self-control they have. And the more they need "power" over others, the more powerless they feel (which also explains TSA bully behavior).

(101,311 posts)This sounds more like the reality of what the 'brainwashing' remark was spun into (George Romney was saying he'd been fooled into accepting the military propaganda they fed American politicians about Vietnam) - that George Romney was weak-willed, or even still unde the influence of someone else. Here's Ann saying her husband's "mental well-being" may not be up to the job.

(11,461 posts)better than anyone else and that includes your mother, if she said "she is concern about his mental state" this is much more troubling than the 47% comment. This can be interpreted into so many things, such as your temperament, your assertiveness, your abusiveness etc, I could go on with all the implications about her comment. Really troubling for Willard.

Damn. I can't help but wonder if Ann's unconsciously transmitting what's actually going on. "This is hard." "I worry for his mental well being."
Makes me shudder. Look how they protected Palin from public scrutiny. How might they be protecting Mitt?
