lurking behind Biden today???

(34,857 posts)It makes sense in the context of a town hall, where the candidates are roaming the stage. I recall in 2000, Bush was talking and Al Gore was walking around and walked up to him and Bush just nodded.
It can play differently in that environment:
But it'd be a complete optical failure if Trump walked from his pulpit over to Biden's, especially when they're likely practicing social distancing. I actually hope he does that.

(34,857 posts)Get flummoxed and walk off stage. It'd be the end of his campaign. I could breathe easier this next week. But Trump knows this is it for him and I frankly don't think he'll pull too many crazy stunts on stage. He'll throw punches, and rant and rave, but he's not going to do anything that leaves people thinking, "OH MY GOD" like in the first debate.

(4,846 posts)But at the same time, he seems to be way worst on his tantrums since his WR days. He can't seem to control his emotions at all. He was bad in 2016 but he can still pick his battles and stays on message. But he hasn't spoken much on his policies or messages lately. All he does is airing his grievances and making everyone his enemy. So I can't rule out his more erratic responses.

(34,857 posts)The final debate four years ago is a great example of this. Trump was still Trump but he at least was able to stay on message for a portion of the debate and it was likely his best performance.
But Trump is way more unhinged today than he was four years ago. He hasn't been on message at any point since his Oval Office address back in March.
So, it would not surprise me if he came out and just totally mucked everything up.
I still don't think he does it. But who knows? It's clear his handlers have no control over him. So, their advice isn't being heeded.

Let him walk off the stage. That would be great.
