As much as I hate faux news, I thought Shep was genuine in saying sorry, and handled it with class.

(3,073 posts)Not watching Fox much these days- could not stomach it any more- but am curious about what he apologized for.

(34,845 posts)DU has been OUTRAGED at Fox News' accidental showing -from too great a distance to really see anything- of a man shooting himself live on camera.
Which points to, disturbingly, the idea that too many DUers watch Fox News and pretend it's 'studying the enemy' or something.

From how she relayed it to me, it sounded like an honest fuck up.

(17,528 posts)human being. Even many Republicans have a soul. They'd better, as I have 3 siblings and other relatives that are ReThugs. I'm trying to convert them but so far I'm striking zero.
Another thought...if they have no soul...they can't go to HELL when necessary!

(40,416 posts)I think that would be awesome. Replace Morning Dead Intern with him.
I have increasingly come to like Shep's reportage, in spite of the reins on it. He has, on multiple occasions, shown his mettle, most prominently during Katrina and other occasions since. Today is another. I am beginning to really like him.
MSNBC, go for it! Get Shep Smith. He is a good journalist.

(2,391 posts)I've respected Shep since then, much to my bemusement. But I would love to see him on MSNBC. I think his perspective and experiences dealing with Faux would make him a refreshing change from JoeyScar.

(40,416 posts)They have all but eaten Fox's lunch during the conventions. If I were in a position at MSNBC, I would be courting him.
BTW, some say he's gay -- not that it's an issue here, but given the Republican platform, it may be. I certainly would not bring up the topic because it shouldn't matter. But Hannity's and O'Reilly's position very well may help turn him.
If I were at MSNBC, I would try to get him on board, and give him broad permission to take things where he desired. It may very well work out. His heart is in the right place, I think, even if he remains conservative.

(67,108 posts)the TV as a warm caring person. There is something about him that seems very sincere. I've always understood people can be conservative, I grew up in a town like that, but the people were not hateful, vicious, rude and ugly cheats like today.

Can you imagine if anyone else at Faux would have been on duty at the time? And the utterly tasteless things they would have said?
