The parking lot at the new polling place was pretty full. The precincts are in a big church activity room so there is plenty of room for social distancing, and the lines are all inside. As usual, no big line at my precinct, although the precinct worker told me she was pretty busy, earlier. No doubt it will pick up, again, later in the day.
No obvious poll watchers - just people - all wearing masks - coming in, getting line, and holding lots of cheerful conversations. I live in a HEAVILY Democratic district, so I took that as a sign people are feeling optimistic.
My niece lives in what has always been a very heavily GOP district, but said this year the Biden/Harris signs far outnumber any trump* signs. When she went to vote, she said there was a police presence AND an FBI agent talking to the Chief of Police. She also saw a child, wearing a trump* sweat shirt, being 'rolled around' the voting area. I'm assuming she meant in a stroller. And she said the FBI agent was still there when she finished voting. I'm going to check the noon news to see if there is a story to be told.
I just finished a HUGE, and very late breakfast and now I'm going to have a rare 2nd cup of coffee and do my best to control that anxiety monster that I can feel lurking in the back of my consciousness. I'm looking forward to chatting with everyone on DU, tonight.

(26,262 posts)I'm someone who doesn't just check the box to vote straight for Democrats. I like to fill in each and every individual little square. My hand sure started to ache but the satisfaction I get by voting separately for each and every Democrat far outweighs the discomfort.
I think this might have been my last 'in person' election day voting experience. I thought about voting early, but then I realized that I really, really, REALLY needed the comfort and security of seeing that scanner light up with message 'Your Vote Has Been Counted'.

(57,073 posts)No option to vote straight party here. I'm now in TN, but OH & NC were this way, too.
I voted way early. Couldn't wait to get my vote in!
