(24,737 posts)Angus King(I-ME) seems like a great target....he would suffer no repercussions from the ME District 1 voters.

Executive
Legislative
Judiciary
No one is supposed to control the other.

(870 posts)No one controls the Senate, per se. The VP is the tie-breaker, but other than that, Senate is part of the Legislative branch.
Seriously?

(13,078 posts)are Republicans still in charge - ala Moscow Mitch?
NVM I found the answer:
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/what-happens-if-the-senate-splits-50-50-next-year/
Experts tracking this cycles competitive Senate races say a 50-50 split is a real possibility again. Were that to happen, the party that wins the White House would determine which party becomes the majority in the Senate -- because the vice president casts the tie-breaking vote.
Dems would take control in a tie

(9,952 posts)it was useless.
Polybius
(15,518 posts)It it's 50-50 in the Senate, both Party's split everything equally. So both Mitch and Chuck would be co-Majority Leaders, although they would probably call themselves co-Senate Leaders, since both there is no majority.
What I don't know is if both have the power to bring up a bill or a judge on their own. They might need the other leader's approval. Or not.
LizBeth
(9,952 posts)appoints. I like that answer better. Can you imagine Mitch working cooperatively with any Democrat? But yes, I was considering there might be that kind of arrangement that you suggest. But, I think the correct answer would be Biden would say Democratic have majority rule.
LizBeth
(9,952 posts)A tied 50-50 Senate in effect becomes a 51-50 Senate in favor of the VP's party. The VP is considered a Senator in all respects (as well as VP) except they refrain from voting other than ties.
LizBeth
(9,952 posts)Yes. The VP would make the senate 50/51, giving a majority.
