...we need to determine who is unredeemably racist or white nationalist, and brook no compromise with them, but we also have to reach out and try to win over those who were driven to Trump for other reasons (and, while it's common for some here to mock "economic anxiety" and the like, there are many who latched on to Trump because "shaking things up" seemed like the only way their lives could improve). It will be vitally important to show those in that group that we will work to improve their lot, and that they can trust the Democratic Party to do so, just as it did for their grandparents in FDR's time. Failing to do so will only mean that we'll be doomed to be locked in mortal combat with an ever-growing Trumpism for years to come.
