Just spitballin' here. Clearly we have to politically put him in a box or he is just going to be going back to the delay obstruct playbook.
What if Joe publishes a plan to move the functions of the military bases in Kentucky to other states and close those Kentucky bases.
Call it the Mcconnell/Paul plan. Hang it around their neck.
Most of military brass probably wouldn't mind too much. They spend too much money on just keeping bases open they don't want or need. They would rather spend the money on weapons systems..sweeten the pot for the military by giving them a few more coins. Make the plan where there is a choice between moving to another red state or blue state. Divide and conquer. It will also strike fear into other Rethugs that their own pork will be threatened. The Senators clearly respond to fear...look at the last 4 years. Not exactly profiles in courage.
We got to play hardball with this MF. Any thoughts or other ideas?

(7,864 posts)The Senate is still up for grabs.
We have the chance to make McConnell the leader of the minority, if they even bother to stick with him if he and his Republicans lose control.
Let's focus on that.
Republicans went into Election Night with the presidency and the Senate.
The leave Election Night without the presidency and the Senate still undecided.
Focus on that and let's win those two Senate seats in BLUE Georgia!

(778 posts)no matter what, Mconnell is still going to be there and we will have to deal with his crap one way or another. He's a poo flingin' monkey and we need to mitigate that in any way possible.

(46,042 posts)McConnell can refuse to bring things to a vote, so trying to get R votes for bills may not work. Get a R to switch to Dem or Independent caucusing with Dems. My candidate is Lisa Murkowski.

(778 posts)it causes him too much pain, threatens him too much to do that. Those kind of ideas are what I'm looking for....ways to punish the MF and make him fear Joe, not for the sake of revenge (although that would be nice at some level), but as a strategy to politically castrate the motherfucker and make it unappealing from the standpoint of self preservation to get in Joe's way.

Win those senate seats in Georgia!

(46,042 posts)First, we all work our asses off to win both run-offs in Georgia. That'll take care of McConnell.
If we only win one, talk Lisa Murkowski into caucusing with the Dems. Offer her something really, really sweet.
True Blue American
(17,984 posts)That vote with Democrats.
wryter2000
(46,042 posts)Jeffres (not remembering his first name) flipped control of the Senate when he became an independent and caucused with the Dems. Murkowski could do that. I don't trust Susan Collins, but if we could get another R, that would give us the Senate.
True Blue American
(17,984 posts)Reject Murkowski? She ran as a write in and won.
wryter2000
(46,042 posts)And she won as a write in. She voted to save the ACA. I don't know if we could get her or not, but if we only win one seat in GA, we'd only need her to get the majority.
I've signed up for Stacey Abrams organization to be a volunteer. Winning both seats in GA would be the best solution.

(17,984 posts)Keep us informed. I read that Democrats need to work to help food banks and basic needs instead of wasting millions on ads! What do you think?
Good luck!

(46,042 posts)If we don't win the Senate, we won't be able to make real progress to help regular people who are hurting much more than usual now. Just imagine if Trump had been able to pull off his idea of ending the Social Security tax. Millions of old people would be in serious trouble, including me.

(17,984 posts)Let us see what the Supremes do to the ACA. And how the Senate plays out.

(778 posts)it may be necessary in the end though. I would like to try other options or strategies before we get to that point, though.

(778 posts)while hopeful, doesn't give us a plan if it doesn't work out. While I believe we can be competitive, to assume we can get either or both seats is not entirely realistic. Their were more republican votes in both races than dem. We're playing from behind.
I was more interested in peoples ideas about what Joe, the executive branch could do to fuck Mcconnell.

(778 posts)loss of jobs, etc. Local economies are heavily dependent on their base. The dirty little secret is that a lot of our bases are totally unnecessary from a defensive necessity or posture. They are just government make work projects put on the back of the Defense Department because it's easier for a politician to look like they supporting funding for the military rather than a "socialist" make work project. Losing that level of pork is a big threat to any politicians career.

(53 posts)We need to push the CARES package immediately. His waffling will allow us to hang that as wedge issue for Georgia. Some of this will be on Dump not agreeing to any new CARES deal but by association we can tag him with it and make it a case for the election.
If he agrees to our terms, the more the better that need help. I say he will roll dice and not agree to a deal because Dump will not sign it.

(778 posts)while certainly preferable to not being in the majority...that doesn't automatically make DEM priorities a slam dunk. It essentially gives any individual DEM, independent or R who caucuses w/ the DEMS veto power over a DEM agenda item. We don't have to go into any discussion about who's a DINO or not here, just accept that they do exist and can and will probably present problems.
We need a way to hamstring Mconnell and his fellow rethugs so they don't act as a cohesive unit. This diminishes the power of any individual DINO if there are a significant number of Rethug senators that are not afraid of the turtle and would rather act as independent agents.
