(16,926 posts)we've got some brilliant people here on "our side." I'll never understand how we let that orange oaf happen in the first place.
And then, some 66 MILLION people are saying they want more?
WHERE DID WE FAIL?

(3,077 posts)Some of it is messaging. Some of it is that there are some really shitty people out there. Hate, racism, sexism and fear of change run deep in this country. There is a lot of ugliness that needs to be addressed and healed. There is inequality. A huge thing that needs to be addressed is the Socialism messaging. Cubans and Venezuelans do not have the experience of Socialism that young people in the United States think of.

(16,926 posts)some good points there. I worry that it is going to be difficult to actually make the changes necessary when we work under a 2-year cycle of elections and have a serious opposition group blocking every move for advancement. And now that the courts are so tilted, at least on past performances, I think true "progress" is going to be a very difficult thing to achieve.
But, HEY! - Gotta' start somewhere - and getting rid of the Orange Cancer is a great start!
