NC required ballots to be postmarked by Election Day. Huge number havent yet been counted and added to totals. I think NC may swing toward Biden.

There's a 74,819 advantage Trump has out of 5,394,231 total votes.
99% in, 1% remaining would be only 53,942 uncounted votes.
If all of those making up 1% went to Biden, it still wouldn't catch up.
BUT, if the Yahoo numbers are only estimates and there are more than 53,000 votes yet to count, it could happen.

(675 posts)Biden would need 70% of the remaining votes to overtake Trump. He hasn't been getting that.

(5,559 posts)There are some very red counties with a meaningful amount of ballots not counted. Beaufort +26 Trump, Carteret +42 Trump, Randolph +56 Trump. Those are not tiny counties either.
When something like a 70/30 split is needed, it doesn't take much shortfall to to get behind.

(578 posts)-Presidency races. NC since '92 has been doing Ticket Splitting for Govenor-Presidency races. The only time they didn't do it was in '08 when they elected Obama and Bev Purdue who were both Democrats. NC will usually elect a Democratic governor if the president is a republican or vice versa if the president is a Democrat.

(19,264 posts)I do think the final tally will be close though meaning NC is very much in play in 2024.

(578 posts)blue. Obama barely won it in '08 and since then we have lost nail biters to GOP presidential candidates. Romney beat Obama down here 51-49 in '08. Trump beat Hillary down here in '16 49-46. Trump is going to win again I'm guessing probably 49-48 when the votes are counted up. Very infuriating to keep losing like this especially in the senate races.
