(34,195 posts)So do zillions of others who use it to keep in touch with friends and family.
Just ignore the ads and politics.
Folks who don't like it don't have need to use it.

(490 posts)but Zuckerbergs enabling of far-right misinformation is disgusting. It is also very clearly not accidental, regardless of any assertions to the contrary.
Facebook would be fine as a means of keeping in touch, even as a source of legitimate news...but the organisation continues to wink at people who have no interest in being part of a liberal democracy, and for that I hope the incoming administration - if it is even allowed to be seated - takes the gloves off in dealing with it on day one.

(19,201 posts)take on Facebook/Zuckerberg and break the damned thing into a thousand little pieces, all heavily regulated. "Staying in touch with relatives"? What's wrong with telephone conversations, email, or heaven forbid - a handwritten letter? Facebook, unbridled, is going to be the death of civil society.
