Whats the downside of humoring him for this little bit of time? He went golfing this weekend... Hes tweeting about filing some lawsuits; those lawsuits will fail; then hell tweet some more about how the election was stolen; then hell leave. https://washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-republicans-election-challenges/2020/11/09/49e2c238-22c4-11eb-952e-0c475972cfc0_story.html

(9,353 posts)Thats how we got here in the first place.
AGs from ten states have already joined the circus. They have willingly put their "credibility" on the line.
The MSM is doing an absolutely horrible job in the framing. What Trump is doing is unprecedented in the 20th/21st century. They haven't even mentioned the fact that Biden's final EV state vote totals (irrespective of the national popular totals) are now better than Trump's in 2016 with more paths to victory open to him than Trump. We didn't see Obama's AG running around representing one client, the President.

At best, we will have 25% of the Country that is an angry, ungovernable mess in a time that we need to come together to defeat COVID.
At worst, we will have a dangerous faction of armed and outraged crazy people looking to "save" the republic on behalf of their leader.
There will be blood spilt before this is all over and it will be on their hands.

(16,254 posts)If he was a real man, he'd stand straight and tall and concede to Biden.
Rather than doing that, he's throwing hissy fits, sucking on his pacifier and whining that Biden didn't play fair, so he is the winner.
Biden needs to dump a dish of mashed potatoes over Trump's head and tell him to grow up!

(53,342 posts)The downside is that it's making a mockery of our election system and it's empowering and emboldening a large segment of the population that is prone to anger and violence to rise up!

If you are pretending not to know what the downside is, when you actually do, you are
aiding, abetting, and enabling an attack on the core of our country.

In 1849, amok was officially classified as a psychiatric condition based on numerous reports and case studies that showed the majority of individuals who committed amok were, in some sense, mentally ill.[10] The modern DSM-IV method of classification of mental disorders contains two official types of amok disorder; beramok and amok. Beramok is considered to be the more common of the two and is associated with the depression and sadness resulting from a loss and the subsequent brooding process. Loss includes, but is not limited to, the death of a spouse or loved one, divorce, loss of a job, money, power, etc. Beramok is associated with mental issues of severe depression or other mood disorders. Amok, the rarer form, is believed to stem from rage, insult, or a vendetta against a person, society, or object for a wide variety of reasons. Amok has been more closely associated with psychosis, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, and delusions.[10]

(300 posts)At core, many contemporary Republicans aren't too keen on an actual democracy where every vote counts. They want their votes to be the ones counted, and they'd much prefer an autocracy, as long as the despot in charge is one of their own who mirrors, emboldens, and will reinforce their beliefs and perspectives, however heavy-handedly he does it, and however out of touch with the nation those beliefs may be.
