We don’t need another Norm Coleman.
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/appointed-senators-rarely-win-re/
Appointed Senators Rarely Win Re-Election By Nate Silver In November, two Republicans, Roger Wicker of Mississippi and John Barrasso of Wyoming, appeared on the ballot for the first time as candidates for U.S. Senate, after having been appointed to the chamber midway through the 110th Congress as replacements for Trent Lott and Craig Thomas, respectively. Both won their special elections easily, with Wicker defeating an underwhelming opponent in Ronnie Musgrove, and Barrasso hardly facing any serious challenge at all. |

10. I like Amy but I thought the Biden team had an informal "ban" on considering any current Senators...
For cabinet positions? Also, I saw one of her recent interviews after the election when it was clear Joe had won and she said she wasn't interested in a cabinet position. She said she loved her current position and thought she was most effective as Senator.
I realize that this doesn't really mean anything. It could all change if a coveted position is offered to her. |

44. That was election year BS
By the time it comes she will have plenty of support from the African American community, both in Minnesota and nationally.
What is more as this is an issue and she still has aspirations it will be one of the issues she will work on hard as AG. She didn't pull out of the consideration because of her record, but because the distortion of her record and the repair of it at that time would have been to much of a distraction. She was well on her way to do just that before George Floyd. If she is the choice by the time of any confirmation she will be validated by the African American leadership and I expect that will include BLM. |
