August 6, 2001 George Bush was handed a CIA prepared (PDB) alerting him of the intentions of Osama Bin Ladin. Bush and Condi Rice had ample time to assemble and coordinate a defense that would have avoided the disaster of Sept. 11.
So why does the MSM keep pumping the meme that the Clinton Administration's "transition delay" after Election 2000 was a contributing factor?

(24,450 posts)The Clinton WH and especially people like Richard Clarke were pretty adamant about warning the incoming WH about Al-Queda and the dangers they posed. Cheney, et. were extremely slow to take things seriously although there were some stories circulating that some members stopped traveling by air commercially in the months leading up to 9/11. In any event, it does not seem to be due to a lack of trying by Clinton officials and the transition delay wasn't caused by Clinton officials being *icks and refusing to concede. There were legit court challenges ongoing for awhile.

Need new Fairness Doctrine and anti-trust to break up the current media companies.
The CIA does not have clean hands (and never did). One ofthe CIA's main missions back when founded in 1947s was to imbed the various media with CIA assets.

(14,858 posts)I still recall reading articles in the Dayton Daily News about the threats, many weeks before 9/11. I think some members of the Bush administration even held some "drills" here (which didn't interest me) and elsewhere to supposedly prepare people for attacks.

They ignored several people in the intelligence community who had good and specific information, though.

They probably can't think of a way to fuck us over any more than we already fucked ourselves over by electing trump.

(3,635 posts)They had more than enough time but ignored the info the Clinton admin handed down to them (similar to how Trump admin ignored the pandemic playbook Obama left for them).
Repubs spent years trying to bring down Bill for a bj, thus distracting the gov't from dealing with terrorism etc. The idea that they 'cared' about national security is a joke. Clinton/Gore admin kept us safe while they did not.
Repubs suck - amazing how anybody still thinks they're good for the economy, war and peace, etc. They are only good for lining the pockets of the 1 percent and making racists and theocrats feel good about themselves.
oasis
(49,438 posts)because our nation was facing a crisis and had to come together in the fight against terrorism. A fine senator, and disabled veteran Democrat Max Cleland, was booted out of office for not buying in to 100% of Bush policy. I will never forget that.
