Going to ruin the USA. All while gasping for breath on 100% Vapotherm. They tell you there must be another reason they are sick. They call you names and ask why you have to wear all that stuff because they dont have COViD because its not real. Yes. This really happens. And
I cant stop thinking about it. These people really think this isnt going to happen to them. And then they stop yelling at you when they get intubated. Its like a fucking horror movie that never ends. Theres no credits that roll. You just go back and do it all over again.
Which is what I will do for the next three nights. But tonight. Its me and Cliff and Oreo ice cream. And how ironic I have on my home
Hoodie. The South Dakota I love seems far away right now.

(721 posts)If I were a sociologist, I would get to studying what drugs these people have in common. There is something getting in the way of their cognitive functioning to the point that they've lost the most basic sense of self preservation.

(2,212 posts)Just really, really effective propaganda (Fox, OAN, Rush Limbaugh, Breitbart) combined with group-think combined with an orange-faced leader who has a gift for tapping into fear and hatred.

(721 posts)Recently I read about side effects from commonly prescribed medications. Some had pretty significant neuro effects. And many people take multiple meds, not just one, so no one knows the effects they can have combined.
When people believe something so extreme that it endangers their own survival, an instinct that is so basic to every living thing ... I'm really wondering if there's more to it.

(6,679 posts)I don't know how much more they can take. People don't understand how brutal their work has become. Imagine how hard it is just to run to the restroom ... and then there are the 8 zillion other sacrifices they are making along with their own lives at stake.
In the beginning the messaging was that we need to stay home, mask up and keep the hospitals from filling up. Now no one gives a shit if the medical workers break.
America should be ashamed of itself.

(4,572 posts)It's the same South Dakota that I was raised in. And now it's dead, killed by decades of shit from Bill Janklow, Mike Rounds, and now Kristi Noem and their anti-intellectual bullshit that they covered the state in.

(3,076 posts)... my grandpa gave me a, "Janklow for Governor", sticker in the fall of 1978. He thought it was funny. Roger McKillips was his democratic opponent. My high school locker was right next to Roger's twin grandsons. Boy my grandpa thought that was funny... Just to give an example of the mentality out here in South Dakota, especially once you get 25 miles out of Sioux Falls.

(2,065 posts)To the finest medical treatment available - all on the taxpayer dime, at no cost to himself. But the rest of us 99%ers don't have that access to cutting edge medical care, simply because we can't afford it. Then Trump goes out on his superspreader rallies with his message of "Don't be afraid of COVID" which most of his numbskull audience misinterprets as "COVID isn't real, or doesn't exist". Playing fast and loose with the truth is just about as bad as outright lying. At least Hitler was going to war against foreign enemies; Trump is going to war against his own people. sacrificing them on the altar of his own re-election. Well, that whole campaign failed, and I hope to dear God that people who have been brainwashed into the Trump cult finally start waking up to the truth.

(Well actually he said it's the "China Flu" and the "Wuhan Flu" but don't want to encourage these idiots to get into the racist blame game). The high potency of this "flu" strain is why we need the masks, face shields, social distancing and all that.

(26,579 posts)I do feel really bad for the medical workers who are being forced to clean up their messes.

(4,150 posts)They are beyond deplorable. Not only do they have covid, but just think of all of the others they have infected simply because of their intransigence.
I'm a nurse in San Francisco, and yes, we have Covid here, but people UNDERSTAND for the most part that we must take precautions, and yes, they DO believe there is a pandemic going on.
I place the ultimate blame on media outlets like Fox News for fomenting this kind of view. Of course, Pussy-Grabber also shoulders a chunk of the blame. But I fail to understand why these people didn't figure it out when the disaster was slamming NYC. Did they think the horrible footage on television was faked?
Quite frankly, I am underwhelmed by the sufferig gping on in South Daota. I feel bad for the people who truly understood, but given their goddamned governor and the failure on the part of the majority to do anything about it, I prefer to expend my sympathy elsewhere. You cannot cure stupid, and it is unforgivable that they are endangering others.

(11,599 posts)And by "our" I mean the Covid deniers and the people being careless. I wouldn't blame them if they did as some on this thread suggest: stop treating them and throw them out but I know they won't no matter how tempting.
