i liked the way it looked & i liked the way it felt
i'm in and out frequently -- store, work, taking doglet out numerous times a day/evening & late at night. i'm in a building with other residents who never wear a mask in the hallway. but i do, every time i come and go.
i've probably put lipstick on a handful of times since we first went into a lock down in march -- and those few times have only been when i come in with the doglet for the last time late at night.
even if i wore this mask the answer would be: i'm not wearing lipstick.
i realize it's trivial but it's just another fucking thing that's been taken away

(4,928 posts)I've got a wardrobe of masks that match my clothing as a way of compensating for not wearing lipstick.

What I miss most is my fortnightly pedicure. I hadn't gone for five weeks until my toenails actually tore my sneakers and I had to replace them. Will be going for one this week for sure.

(269,186 posts)and they are in very good shape. Three times a week I have a foot massage for 40 minutes with a Homedic's foot massager and pre-pandemic I had a pedi every two weeks.

(9,910 posts)Telling who are the people wearing masks. Example, neighbor across the street was walking into vote I was walking out. She calls out my name and says Hi! I did a doubletake and said Hi back. Didnt dawn on me WHO it was until I got out to my car and thought. Then I felt bad.

(6,618 posts)Or maybe a picture of our face on the mask?
Taken of course, as we wore our favorite shade of lipstick.

(4,546 posts)But I'm also glad sometimes that I don't feel the need to use cover-up or blusher, so it's a trade-off. However, I also have a large, multi-hued collection of lipsticks and glosses just sitting there most of the time. I do get to use them occasionally when I teach online with a videocam, but that's not much consolation. Overall, yeah, I miss it because it was always fun for me.

2 different products.
She was very happy with them.
Easy to use, she said.
She'd rather go get them waxed, but given COVID, she was pleased.

(16,423 posts)There's something special about going out into town and having a nice meal in a restaurant. It's just not the same as home-cooked.
There's something special about going out into town and watching a movie on the big screen. It's just not the same when staying at home and watching it on a small screen.
There's something special about going to an underground-club, chatting up a goth-girl, getting shot down, dancing your brain out to punk-music and playing table-soccer with strangers until 2 am.

(100,104 posts)I have been to just about every venue in the greater Los Angeles area multiple times to see my favorite bands. I've also been to venues in Vegas, Phoenix, Detroit, New York, DC, Denver... all over the country, really. And I was really looking forward to going to SoFi Stadium for the first time this year and seeing Motley Crue and Def Leppard.
I also miss going to games. I should be going to see my Ducks right now but the NHL season isn't even playing.
This pandemic has sucked more than anything that could possibly suck.

(998 posts)No community band. 😪 No church choir. 😫 No handbells. 😪. Yes we have had a couple of choir rehearsals in the back parking lot of church and then recorded for the online worship recording. But it isn't the same. The weekly gatherings of fellow musicians - all wonderful people - is so special. And I miss it SO much.
We had in person worship on a very limited, restricted basis for about a month but that has been canceled again because of the horrible rapid increase in the number covid positive people in the area. Abundance of caution. Maybe again after the first of the year ....
We are all missing our former rhythms of life and yearn for the day when we can freely move about again, enjoying the activities we love.
Stay strong everyone. The next few weeks are going to be tough ones to get thru.

(76 posts)I love lipstick. My favorite cosmetic. I haven't worn lipstick or really any make up since April. I know it's a small thing in the grand scheme of things but I just had to reply. It's something that has bugged me for months. LOL.

(25,816 posts)not that I ever did. I once had an embarrassing moment (don't tell anyone) when I got about halfway to town
to shop and realized I hadn't put my dentures in. They are pretty new to me, and I just spaced it. Then I thought
what the hell, I'll have a mask on. So I went ahead.
I never did it again.

(34,074 posts)i liked the way it felt, kept my lips moist and unchapped, i have to talk a lot at work and my mouth gets dry. i suck on tic tacs (as i always have) but now i find myself licking my lips fairly often so i can run my mouth easier and faster and form the words quicker. sometimes dry lips get caught up on the front teeth
i don't wear any other make-up so my lipstick was the one exception. and i loved the color. i guess i feel i don't look that great and that lipstick helped me to look just a little bit better/nicer. (more put-together, as my mom used to say)
a couple people up thread suggested those see-thru plastic masks, but i imagine a tactical error happening, and lipstick smearing on the mask where everyone could see it! omg!
and the fact is i miss a lot of things. i know we all do--things far more important than stupid lipstick. but even that one simple thing has been taken out of my life for now.
anyway...

(182 posts)I've noticed some of the younger gals around here wearing fake eyelashes and going all in on the eyebrows. Not sure if that's because they are playing up the one aspect of the face that is visible when wearing a mask or if that's been a thing for a while and I'm just noticing now.
