Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, at the White House in October. He said he would not extend emergency loan programs that are set to expire at the end of the year.

The Treasury Department asked the Federal Reserve to return unused funds, downsizing the next secretary’s ability to restart the economic support.

Conspiracy among other crimes and I expect on hell of a RICO case to begin in late January. And that RICO case will likely include at least a third of Congress as I expected three years ago. And I expect everyone in the current Executive branch to be included.

although it is hard to picture a prior Treasury Secretary being able to do that to a incoming administration.

here money that has been budgeted by Congress is being given back so there will be no money to spend without further Congressional action.

Over what the Biden Administration and the next Treasury Sec does. If he can unilaterally end a program then Biden can unilaterally restart it 3 weeks later.

If I understand the gist of this article, returning funds is designed to screw up the numbers in the “baselining” concept.

Seems to me that the calendar year and fiscal year don’t synchronize. If I recall, the fiscal year winds up in October for the government doesn’t it?
