(5,945 posts)He said that people in his city are all taking precautions and masking up, which has held the infection rate down enough so that people can move about freely.
If that's the case, then I guess that although Modi may be a moron, the Indians are not.

(90,370 posts)... vaccine to come to market.
Relatively uncalled for cause if we just do what the other countries have done to control the virus we could wait on the vaccine to go through full time testing with a multitude of society.
Pregnant women can't get the vaccine's and neither can children iinm

(15,292 posts)US population has been infected. Of that number, 60-70% have recovered. Maybe there are 3-4M active cases of covid19 in the entire country. The mortality rate looks to be around 2.5%, significantly lower than during the spring.
What we really have is a crisis for hospitals caused by our system of privately-run, for profit hospitals dependent on payments from medicare/medicaid/private insurers. They can't sustain themselves without paying customers turning over every few days.
According to the Covid Tracking project, as of 11/19, there were just under 81,000 TOTAL Americans hospitalized. That is .025% of the total US population (approx 330M). How sad is it that our healthcare system is on the verge of collapse with so few people needing to be in the hospital? And for some reason, lots of people think we should keep the healthcare system we have.
