she's from Alaska and that would be the end of her political career. She has to run again in 2022. She beat Joe Miller last time as a write-in candidate. I don't think she'd be so lucky again.

Run in Alaska as a member of the Anti-Alaskan party and still have a good chance of winning. The Murkowski name is essentially royalty up there.

give her Democrats and moderate republicans and she could win easily as a (D) in 2022, if she switched.

If we won one seat in Georgia, Murkowski would give us the senate. That way, Mitch McConnell couldn't block things from coming to a vote. We might get a republican vote or two for something very popular. There has to be a reason McConnell blocks votes when his majority could simply vote them down. Probably, senators don't want to be seen blocking people from getting stimulus checks, etc.

As I recall, when Arlen Specter changed to dem, he was a pretty dependable vote. I think she might change her voting practices if she joined us.

But, of course, she'd only the our 49th member. We'd still need the 50th.

John McCain got all the attention with his dramatic thumbs-down, but if Murkowski and Collins hadn't also voted no, it wouldn't have mattered. The ACA would be dead. So I have to give them partial credit for that. I say "partial" because they probably didn't know McCain would do what he did, and assumed their votes wouldn't be decisive.
