Instead of simple well-wishes for your uncle, I'll share that my sister-in-law only seems to improve in her ICU when her lungs are aspirated. Her lungs just keep filling with fluid!
A BiPap machine to force oxygen into her lungs, but with reduced pressure during exhales (unlike the constant pressure from a CPap), has supposedly helped her to cough up some of the fluid too. At least that's what a nurse told my brother. We can't visit, obviously.
