But that's about it.

How long will they just sit back and jump through Trump’s hoops because they sure as hell do not want him running again and stealing their chances. If they’re smart, Republicans will start subtly undermining Trump, letting things leak here and there. As he weakens, Republicans will do nothing to support him until his base dwindles away.

I think Trump will be a raving lunatic by 2024, but in the meantime he can threaten any Republican with turning his base against them. It will be interesting to see how long that lasts.

Would really set things in motion to, well, actually transition. Idiot.

Wondering who in chump's orbit convinced him to allow the inevitable.

He does not realize how badly he is embarrassing himself & his party and no idea he is putting himself in more legal jeopardy by attemoting to obstruct the sacred voting process.

powerful nation in the world made him think he was the most powerful person in the world, able to do anything and to command anything and everyone.

Unbeatable and answerable to no one. He never had a clue about the limitations of the presidency and thought it meant absolute power over the world.

... as another gangster did: Vincent "the Chin" Gigante:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vincent_Gigante

For about 30 years, Gigante feigned insanity in an effort to throw law enforcement off his trail. Dubbed "The Oddfather" and "The Enigma in the Bathrobe" by the media, Gigante often wandered the streets of Greenwich Village in his bathrobe and slippers, mumbling incoherently to himself. He was indicted on federal racketeering charges in 1990, but was determined to be mentally unfit to stand trial. In 1997, he was tried and convicted of racketeering and conspiracy, and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Facing obstruction of justice charges in 2003, he pleaded guilty and admitted that his supposed insanity was an elaborate effort to avoid prosecution, as he was sentenced to an additional three years in prison. He died while incarcerated at the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners on December 19, 2005.

But all the real goodies he craves:

Shielding of Criminal Prosecution
Executive Orders
Pardons
Appointments
Commander-in-Chief
White House Resident
Head of State
AF1
Media hanging on to very word uttered (moving markets/applying pressure or rewarding other world leaders/countries)
Basically everything coming to a stop he travels

Gone. Toast. No carry overs. No secret slush funds. He becomes a regular U.S. citizen subject to all rules and laws (when those choose to APPLY such laws).

Over 70 million Republicans voted for this man. He will continue to hold rallies across the country and solicit donations for his 2024 campaign. Remember he started his 2020 campaign almost the day after he took the oath of office. He will be campaigning and therefore in the public spotlight for the next 4 years. The media, specifically FOX, OAN and the RW talkers will be singing his praises.

He will be speaking out against the Biden Administration every f'king time he opens his mouth.

So you're right, no legislative, governmental power, but it will be a shit show with him for another 4 years. The only way for it to stop will be if he goes to prison, he becomes incapacitated or he drops dead.

I hope I'm wrong.
