This doctor discovered the perfect way to deal with anti-vaxxer parents

For most of us, the idea of a Covid-19 vaccine feels like a light at the end of the tunnel.

The writer explains they recounted this to the attending physician, who listened patiently while the woman listed “about 15 reasons why vaccines are more dangerous than the disease they protect against, in addition to the various evils of the pharmaceutical industry”.

When she was finished, the doctor apparently replied:

“Have you considered the possibility that anti-vaccine propaganda could be an attempt by the Russians or the Chinese to weaken the health of the United States population?”

being one of the first to receive whatever vaccine is rolled out.

I don't really trust the processes that went into these trials. All kinds of testing rules were relaxed to get these vaccines moving, and that could hide a multitude of sins.

And the recent news out of Astra Zeneca didn't do much to allay my fears.

If Biden's administration reviews and re-examines the safety of the vaccines and clears them for takeoff, I will feel differently. But as it stands now, I'll let all you guys get ahead of me in the line and reconsider 6 months or a year down the line.

The virus was created to kill off the non-white population.

But many of the researchers are racist so they test it on the non-whites and wait to see if it is ok.

Yes it works perfectly so they then give it to the few remaining white minority remaining.

which is one of the locations where individuals are being enrolled in clinical trials for the vaccine. We were selected because our hospital has a relatively diverse clientele and the majority of the participants who had already enrolled in the trial when we joined were Caucasian.

Because of the horrific and disgusting historical use of minorities and other less powerful/non-white groups for medical research, it is actually very difficult to get people who are not white to enroll in clinical trials. Both historically and now, the vast majority of clinical research which is expected to have a potential benefit for the participants has been conducted primarily on white males - in the past by design and now due to the not unreasonable unwillingness of minorities to be participants.

However, unlike the past, there are now significant legal and cultural changes (especially since the 70's) which prevent the special inclusion or exclusion of any group unless scientifically justified (for example, Riley-Day syndrome affects almost exclusively Ashkenazi Jews so a clinical trial of a treatment for that syndrome would be allowed by a human subjects review board to restrict their enrollment to Ashkenazi Jews).

In terms of vaccines and treatments (things which are expected to benefit the people who receive them), one of the biggest problems in medicine is that they have only been tested on white males but get prescribed and used on the whole population.

Of all the clinical trials to take part in, anything having to do with COVID is less likely to be conducted in an unethical manner. First, there are plenty of willing participants out there - enrolling participants who do not meet the eligibility criteria is one of the biggest ethical problems in clinical research. Second, the whole world is watching - it is much easier to engage in unethical research practices when the research is not being watched by the entire world. The world isn't paying attention to the heart disease treatment study going on right now at my hospital because it doesn't literally affect everyone in the whole world. Third, COVID related clinical research is probably the only research in 50 years where cutting corners or faking anything has the potential to actually hurt the people who would be cutting the corners or faking anything.

Based on historical data, the reality is that since they are already at the safety and efficacy stage, any COVID vaccine is actually more likely to NOT be tested on minorities at all than to ONLY be tested on minorities.
