many are conservative, religion is very strong, and for some a Republican senate checking dangerous LW secular "extremism" while a Democratic president blocks the GOP's racist policies and appointments is probably not the worst scenario.
Just checked on the mail-in ballots we ordered some time ago. Expected to arrive any day now. While waiting, we've received APPLICATIONS for mail-in ballots from a national group, America Votes, that focuses on getting out the vote in state races, GA right now. Impressive effort. They're valid (I checked), America Votes only listed as the outside envelope's return address, the letter thanking me for being a voter completely nonpartisan and principled, and the application and return envelope same as the state issues. So I knew before checking that it wasn't sent by any RW or other trickster organization.  |

You'd think I'd learn by now, but I just can't help it. Voter suppression has worked so well for Republicans for the last decades, but Georgia went for Biden and my heart soared. I can see the rest of the south following. I only hope I'm still around to see it.
The other day, I watched the documentary "All In" and there was a clip from a speech LBJ gave when introducing the Voting Rights Act and I loved the end; he looked right into the faces of Republicans and said in that deep souther drawl.. "we shall overcome" with emphasis on the 'shall.' I remember watching that on tv with my mom and her saying "Yes! we shall." Oh please save us, Georgia! |

stuff offends me no matter who's doing it, but I'd probably also feel the ends justified the means if they worked, or forget about them. Just afraid these means will kill the end. There's a reason our pros don't do this stuff. The Republicans are an entirely different kettle of slime creatures of course.
Btw, on another post I mentioned an entirely different quality of action -- a very impressive GOTV group, America Votes, who are sending unsolicited, NONPARTISAN applications for mail-in ballots to voters across GA. We trashed ours since we'd already requested them, but are going to send them a donation. They're a national progressive action group committed to advancing the principles of representative democracy, but they concentrate their efforts at the state level. Right now, it's GA.
