Reports from rural Kansas, where Covid-19 cases are rising, along with some threats and animosity towards health professionals.
People want to blame something, and they cant blame a virus that is too small to be seen, so they blame people like me, one doctor says.

(4,999 posts)Trump, McConnell, Fox News are more directly to blame. They know better, but exploit the gullible for simple power grabs to enrich themselves.
Leadership matters.
We have a far weaker country right now because of a failure of leadership.
Russia couldn't be more pleased.

(6,448 posts)Climate Change, but this year there's a Venn diagram forming with the pandemic. The words that Heston shouts as he's riding up to the Statue of Liberty really stick with me. It's a great symbol, since these people don't want to "lose their freedom".
That Venn just may end up becoming a mere circle when all is said and not done (by 45). Having the first 7 months of Operation Twerp Speed didn't help. Neither did the irreplaceable misinformation that saturates their feeble minds.

(11,742 posts)There is ONE person who is most to blame. Trump, then the idiot politicians who followed him down the road of denial and anti-mask sentiment are second on the list.
This is not a medical problem in the sense that professionals are to blame. This is a public health policy issue. We had a chance to get this under control, and IT WAS/IS POSSIBLE, but when you have an entire party out there fighting against the science and the public health experts, then you/we are going to lose.
Medical professionals deserve nothing but our support and praise for what they are trying to deal with.

It is his failure that thus far cost nearly 300,000 American lives.

(7,403 posts)He is solely responsible for the anti-maskers and thus half of the spread of the disease. Trump is the greatest mass murderer since Pol Pot.

(10,168 posts)That's where the two guys in the pickup truck were from that tested positive in the clip. They were caring for and elderly (90's) relative who's probably dead by now.
The podunks in every state are going to kill us all, including the podunk sherriffs like the guy ranting about his freedumb in the school gym.

My old buddy is a red neck tRump cult member...and hardly anyone wore a mask. I made the mistake of joining him to his "hangout"....BIG mistake. Half the peeps looked like meth heads, and NOBODY wore a mask. Hugging and handshaking like no Covid in their lives.
I can only imagine how many of those clowns caught it by now.

(14,493 posts)It's almost a given considering the upcoming Christmas shopping, parties, church celebrations and family gatherings....and then there is New Years.
This situation is almost entirely the fault of American right-wing media in concert with the GOP's primary goal of supporting business growth rather than public safety and well-being.
KY rant done........
