it doesn’t matter at all when drugs or vaccine were “created”. It only matters when it actually passed all clinical trials. It’s quite common for pharma to sit on patents for years.

11. research does not always yield successful results.

There are many roadblocks, setbacks and false starts. Designing a vaccine is tricky. Of course in hindsight its now easy to look back and say see we had this back then. Truthfully we did not know if it would pan out until we ran all testing.

They still had to go through testing, which does take time. That is a big part of the "creation" process.

Maybe that testing could have been done more quickly, but inferring that it was ready in January doesn't help the story.

The design was done quickly. That doesn't mean you should start injecting people right away. Vaccines need to be tested, and it takes a long time.

17. I think the wording at times was a bit unfortunate

as it seemed to indicate that the solution was there before all the deaths happened and it might also fuel conspiracy theorists.
Not sure whether it has to do with this mRNA technology but it is indeed amazing how fast a template for a vaccine could get created. It's not anymore the search for a vaccine that takes a long time but the process to make sure it works and that it's safe.
