This stuff is mega dangerous. Works for Heart Worm in Dogs, but do remember the Label saying,do not let it enter your body and if you think you have been contaminated in anyway, seek Medical care Immediately. One of my many part time jobs was handling and shipping these Biologic Serum to Vets all over the Midwest. BTW,this was a Pfizer operation.

10. Ivermectin, 'Wonder drug' from Japan: the human use perspective

Abstract

Discovered in the late-1970s, the pioneering drug ivermectin, a dihydro derivative of avermectin—originating solely from a single microorganism isolated at the Kitasato Intitute, Tokyo, Japan from Japanese soil—has had an immeasurably beneficial impact in improving the lives and welfare of billions of people throughout the world. Originally introduced as a veterinary drug, it kills a wide range of internal and external parasites in commercial livestock and companion animals. It was quickly discovered to be ideal in combating two of the world’s most devastating and disfiguring diseases which have plagued the world’s poor throughout the tropics for centuries. It is now being used free-of-charge as the sole tool in campaigns to eliminate both diseases globally. It has also been used to successfully overcome several other human diseases and new uses for it are continually being found. This paper looks in depth at the events surrounding ivermectin’s passage from being a huge success in Animal Health into its widespread use in humans, a development which has led many to describe it as a “wonder” drug.

...

Ivermectin proved to be even more of a ‘Wonder drug’ in human health, improving the nutrition, general health and wellbeing of billions of people worldwide ever since it was first used to treat Onchocerciasis in humans in 1988. It proved ideal in many ways, being highly effective and broad-spectrum, safe, well tolerated and could be easily administered (a single, annual oral dose). It is used to treat a variety of internal nematode infections, including Onchocerciasis, Strongyloidiasis, Ascariasis, cutaneous larva migrans, filariases, Gnathostomiasis and Trichuriasis, as well as for oral treatment of ectoparasitic infections, such as Pediculosis (lice infestation) and scabies (mite infestation).14) Ivermectin is the essential mainstay of two global disease elimination campaigns that should soon rid the world of two of its most disfiguring and devastating diseases, Onchocerciasis and Lymphatic filariasis, which blight the lives of billions of the poor and disadvantaged throughout the tropics. It is likely that, throughout the next decade, well over 200 million people will be taking the drug annually or semi-annually, via innovative globally-coordinated Mass Drug Administration (MDA) programmes. Indeed, the discovery, development and deployment of ivermectin, produced by an unprecedented partnership between the Private Sector pharmaceutical multinational Merck & Co. Inc., and the Public Sector Kitasato Institute in Tokyo, aided by an extraordinary coalition of multidisciplinary international partners and disease-affected communities, has been recognized by many experts and observers as one of the greatest medical accomplishments of the 20th century.15) In referring to the international efforts to tackle Onchocerciasis in which ivermectin is now the sole control tool, the UNESCO World Science Report concluded, “the progress that has been made in combating the disease represents one of the most triumphant public health campaigns ever waged in the developing world”.16)

It's as useful against nematode infections in humans as in animals. As a topical cream, it is also used for rosacea and head lice.

But is doesn't have any effect on Covid-19, although it has been tried widely in Latin America, e.g. Peru.

It was used to cure an horrific parasitic disease called "river blindness" in South America. The people down there were drinking river water with parasites in it that spread throughout their body. The parasites would multiply and eventually destroy not just their eyesight, but also their brains and they would die a very unpleasant death.

It was found that the flea and tick med a drug company was working on killed this parasite as well, but the people afflicted would not be able to buy is because, you know, they lived in a jungle and drank river water.

Senators Bill Bradley (R), and Ted Kennedy (D) heard of this and through hard work were able to secure the money through a U.S. Govt. grant to pay for the meds and get them to the people in S.A. Ivermectin actually cured this disease for these people.

That said, it probably won't kill people, but it is definitely a last ditch drug in humans.

*I taught this case study in a medical ethics class. When I told the students in the class that the med they gave these people was called "Frontline Flea and Tick" in the U.S., I got the reaction I was looking for!

Ivermectin, under the name Mectizan, has been used on humans for decades. Most famously, it has helped to (nearly) eradiate river blindness in Africa. This was a great triumph for which William Campbell and Satoshi Omura won the Nobel Prize in medicine and a celebrated moment when an American corporation (Merck) acted with great humanity.

Dismissing it as an "animal heart worm medicine" is just wrong and ignorant.

15. Major study of Ivermectin, the anti-vaccine crowd's latest COVID drug, finds 'no effect whatsoever'

The RWNJ sites are really pushing this quack cure. This medicine is for horse deworming

Ivermectin, the latest supposed treatment for COVID-19 being touted by anti-vaccination groups, had “no effect whatsoever” on the disease, according to a large patient study.

That’s the conclusion of the Together Trial, which has subjected several purported nonvaccine treatments for COVID-19 to carefully designed clinical testing. The trial is supervised by McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, and conducted in Brazil.....

Among the 1,500 patients in the study, he said, Ivermectin showed “no effect whatsoever” on the trial’s outcome goals — whether patients required extended observation in the emergency room or hospitalization.

“In our specific trial,” he said, “we do not see the treatment benefit that a lot of the advocates believe should have been” seen.....

The findings on Ivermectin are yet another blow for advocates promoting the drug as a magic bullet against COVID-19. Ivermectin was developed as a treatment for parasitical diseases, mostly for veterinarians, though it’s also used against some human parasites.
