Quinnipiac CT Poll: "Obama Widens Lead Over Romney To 12 Points"

October 4, 2012 - Connecticut Senate Race Is Tied, Quinnipiac University Poll Finds; Obama Widens Lead Over Romney To 12 Points

The Connecticut U.S. Senate race is essentially tied up, with 48 percent of likely voters for Republican Linda McMahon and 47 percent for Democratic U.S. Rep. Christopher Murphy, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Presidential Race

With a 22-point lead among women, President Barack Obama leads Gov. Mitt Romney 54 - 42 percent among Connecticut likely voters, compared to 52 - 45 percent August 28.

Women back the president 59 - 37 percent, while men are divided, with 49 percent for Romney and 47 percent for Obama. Independent voters also are divided, with 48 percent for Obama and 45 percent for Romney.

Obama cares about their needs and problems, voters say 62 - 36 percent. Romney doesn't care, voters say 52 - 44 percent.
