(53,038 posts)The entire policy is repulsively anti-egalitarian, and that is as much true for the Democrats whose privilege is defended here as it is for these asshole Republicans.
The fact is all people are not equal in America, and very few care about that.

(53,038 posts)But the practice that puts congress ahead of the vulnerable is disgusting and symptomatic of a truly corrupt society. Some are comfortable with inequality; in fact they even champion it. I am not among them. People can maintain an ideology that puts the few over the many, but they should be honest about their values.

(14,016 posts)with our leadership getting it i.e. Biden, Harris, and Pelosi (they deserve to get it because theyre in line to be our next executive) but I dont think our rank and file Congress people should jump the line unless theyre in a high risk group.

(53,038 posts)Protecting the continuity of government makes sense. The rest is elitism, pure and simple.

(9,952 posts)Should have gone to medical or old people in homes or someone else in much higher risk. Then I was told a single person in congress of 5 hundred and something is more important than the rest of us for the continuation of governing. Seeing a young, healthy person getting the shot is hard.

(9,952 posts)conversation I was having, it had me considering that people were actually arguing that a 20,30 something, healthy woman's life was more important than all of us though her risk of death very very very low or any other issue but a bit of illness. Lol
While I was trying to explain no not hate, but an instant reaction to seeing young and healthy getting a shot, as I did not know if UI would be extended for months, a WEEK away from being on the street with no incoming $, having lost my job at an hotel cause covid, nothing I did, while being old at 59 and no one is going to hire me with 100-150 apps sent in for one job leaving me with customer service and high risk.
Now this is their argument. And I am saying, but I taught my kids to consider others, like they would simply be saying, others need that vaccine, that simple. Or being responsible following rules for 9 months because flatly, they do not want to kill old people. Basics. The expectation I have from young adults is, Will mask, 6 ft, wash hands and isolate, give the vaccine to another. Right?
And that concept is so very foreign, that not a single person pointing the finger at me saying, hater, could understand where I was coming from, so yes. Really revealing and a lot ironic and confirms what a lot of us say about the divisions even in the Democratic Party.
