You can already see how Republicans will expunge the stain of Trump. They will reduce his epic failings to ones of tone and personal conduct, while insulating conservative ideology from its role in the biggest governing failure of modern times. My latest:

Listen closely, and you can already hear the expunging of the Trump disaster underway.

The big NYT piece on Republicans allegedly wanting to move on from Trump actually gives away their game.
Cornyn claims we won't have to talk about his "Tweets" anymore. Lindsey Graham piously says the GOP's problem is one of "tone."
Don't be fooled:

Stop saying Trump and his supporters "actually believe" the election was stolen from him. They support overturning *legitimate* election results. They're angry because democracy *worked,* not because it failed.

@mentions NYT reports Republicans want to get back to attacking "extreme left."
Translation: They want to return to right wing econ ideology, sabotaging recovery while insulating their ideas from blame for virus disaster, under cover of fictional Dem "extremism."

Do they really think everyone sane is going to forget what they've done? And we can't let them. Biden or Harris in 2024 should be a foregone conclusion.

(22,154 posts)2. This moron will be whining, moaning, griping, gasping, clutching his pearls from the day of Biden's
swearing in service on.
But at least, when rump badmouths someone on twitter, his tweeting abilities will be taken away.
At least the ability of trump to mouth off and have people listen to him will be reduced significantly (in theory), and he won't be surrounded by aides that will watch his mouthing off, so eventually, he's going to mouth off the wrong thing at least once or more, and his support will dissolve away, bit by bit.

That won't stop Republicans from trying, but Trump will go down as the worst President in history, IMHO.
