All he has to do is tell Trump it's his only chance of staying in office and Trump would be only too happy to oblige. He wouldn't do it himself, of course. But with Putin's assistance, he would find a way to have it done for him.

Assassinating a U.S. president would be the crowning achievement of Putin's evil life. I hope to God the Biden security detail is vigilant to this threat. Biden and Harris are our last hope to save democracy and I wouldn't put anything, anything past Trump.
