He seems to think if one representative and one senator have issues with the electoral college vote his won, slam dunk. Not the way it works, Donnie.
What is worrying me is how mentally unstable this guy is. He is throwing out conspiracy theories right and left. Has no comprehension of how the system works. And just throwing temper fits.
He should be nowhere near the nuclear football. He should not be in command of our Armed Forces.
I know he won't be for long, but he is right now. He could do horrific things between now and January 20th. And we can't depend on the VP and the cabinet to do anything.
What can be done at this point?

(15,381 posts)I've been diving deep into some right-wing religious nutjobs YouTube videos where the "pastor" thinks he's both a man of God and a Constitutional expert but is neither. They've been feeding their viewers a steady pack of lies that if one senator and one representative both raise the same objection on January 6 - which is possible... maybe even probable... then that's it because they claim that while the Senate votes as individuals (republican majority - maybe) the House has to vote by state delegation, which is 30 to 20 republican to democrat. Unfortunately for them, the House only votes that way to decide on a president if the electoral vote is tied or neither have a total of 270. For voting on objections, the house votes just like the senate - by member, and that will definitely be a democratic majority.

It's really that easy?
Only if the electoral vote is tied, or neither has 270. Then the House and Senate vote. The senate is by individual, but the house would be by state delegation, and while there are more democratic house members, grouping them into state delegations favor the repubs.
The nutjobs think that while senators each cast a vote for objections, democrats have to do it by delegation, which is not true. It's by individual vote as well.
So any objections are essentially DOA.

"It's by individual vote as well."
What is the point of saying this if there's not some scenario in which Congress can reject the electors (with no tie)? What are these individuals even voting on in the non-tie case?

When you act like your unhinged most people have no idea how to deal with it. He knows it scares the Republicans in Congress.
Its all a lie.
