(36,146 posts)Michael Schmidt wants to know how many of these have gone through the Justice Department's formal pardon legal process, says that many of these could be just about connections, and that Barr's department hasn't probably been involved with these, which look more like the results of lobbying -- payments, maybe? -- that benefit 45. Which Congress can investigate as abuse of power.
Andrew Weissman weighs in, says that there's a spate of pardons for corrupt politicians and corrupt law enforcement, mostly connected to the president and right at the heart of the obstructions listed in the Mueller investigation. He notes that Philip Esformes, who scammed Medicare for billions and lives in Florida, is particularly odious.
