My Granddaughter posed a question...

She asked, "Should the States that took the pandemic most seriously be the first to give the vaccine to their population?"

...a simple question I had a hard time answering...

...I wanted to say 'yes' and I wanted to 'no'...

...maybe?

Only kidding a little. No real good answer here, either.

against Dem states, cities and politicians. Better that those most in need get the vaccines. Treat the disease, not the person.

How seriously a state take the pandemic is the decision on one man or woman - that state's governor. While he is an elected official, there are probably a lot of people in that state that treat the pandemic differently. So if the state's governor doesn't take the pandemic seriously, is it fair to hold back the vaccine from the people in that state that *have* taken it seriously?

In other states, the governor has taken the vaccine seriously but many of the people haven't. Some people in one state with a serious governor even tried to kidnap her because they were mad about her taking it seriously. Should those people get the vaccine first because the governor they wanted to hurt took the vaccine seriously even when they didn't?

I don't know if your granddaughter is old enough to perceive beyond black and white. I'm not sure what I'd say if not. But that seems like a pretty sophisticated question so perhaps she can.

We are a country of united states. This should not be a state vs state thing. The high risk needs to be vaccinated first and work down from there. Not this state or that state first.

We must stand together or we will fall.

When a man who smoked and ate pig every day needs a heart bypass we don't tell him no.

Healthcare is a right. Even for stupid, selfish assholes.

number of them are available. For instance, being a current smoker is going to bump you down the list for a lung transplant.

But I don't think it should apply to the current vaccine. There will be enough to go around, and no one person can be held responsible for the idiocy of elected officials in their state.
