Will Pence do the right thing?

By Neal K. Katyal and John Monsky

... Trump is leaning on .. allies to invalidate the .. election by throwing out duly certified votes ...

Pence .. has not said he would do .. that, but his language is worrisome. Last week, he said: “We’re going to keep fighting until every legal vote is counted. We’re going to win Georgia, we’re going to save America,” as a crowd screamed, “Stop the steal” ...

... Monday .. Gohmert .. and other politicians filed a .. lawsuit .. to force the vice president to appoint pro-Trump electors ...

Nothing in .. the Constitution .. gives the vice president any substantive powers. His powers are ministerial, and that circumscribed role makes general sense: The whole point of an election is to let the people decide who will rule them. If an incumbent could simply maneuver to keep himself in office .. the most foundational precept of our government would be .. undermined. In America, “we the people,” not “we, the vice president,” control our destiny ...

... There are no ongoing legal challenges in the states of any merit whatsoever. All challenges have lost, spectacularly and often, in the courts ...

... Pence has been silent ...

they want this illegal BS to go the SC, but the SC said no during the recounts and throwing out votes.

The repigs will go down whatever they do. McConnell had instructed his team not to do anything on January 6th.

(Trump trying to get Republican state senators in the 5 states to submit alternate slates for electors so Pence could say there is a dispute with those for those states) my post was deleted after it had even up for some, time.

They said it violated the standards of repeating right-wing talking points.

Yours is similar. These are not right-wing talking points they are assessments of possible danger and I felt than as I do now, is best to game out your opposition because the states are so high and the opposition has shown itself to be so reprehensible.

So in my book this is a good post, maybe even a very important one. We must prepare for such eventualities by bringing them up and making others aware of them.

So even if other DUer's say that the election is over and we shouldn't worry about it (sometimes in intemperate terms), thanks for this post.
