Trump takes credit for defeating COVID-19: 'Everyone is calling to thank me'

Donald Trump on Thursday celebrated the end of 2020 with an upbeat video message where he used xenophobic language to describe the novel coronavirus and claimed that he is receiving calls from around the globe thanking him for his response to the pandemic.

Trump's comments came one day after the United States set a new record for COVID-19 deaths. The surge in death comes against the backdrop of the Trump administration failing to meet their own goals for vaccinations.

"Nearly 2.8 million people in the U.S. have received 1st dose of #covid19 vaccine.
20 million vaccinations were promised until recently. Before that, 100 million," Dr. Leana Wen noted on Thursday. Nevertheless, Trump declared victory. "They said it would take a medical miracle and that's exactly what it is," Trump argued.

"Years from now they'll be talking about it, they'll be talking about this great, great thing we did with the vaccines," he predicted. "We've already begun a nationwide vaccination program and we're sending the vaccine all over the world," Trump said, despite the shortages of the vaccine in America.

"The world will benefit, we'll benefit,
and everybody is calling to thank me," he claimed.

God, that picture. It looks like the last glassy-eyed photograph of Hemingway (in the Jeffrey Meyers biography), shortly before he blew his brains out.

I wish he was in one of my aunt Skip's stalls while she was milking. trump standing just behind and to the left; getting loud, hand gestures and annoying the cow, then getting kicked right in his butt crack neck, or smirking sphincter mouth.

If anyone deserves a cow kick to the neck or mouth, it's trump. Might knock some sense into him.

Every time someone thanks Trump it’s a tough guy from central casting with a tear in his eye and it starts with “Sir, how can we thank you for being so wonderful.”

https://www.rollcall.com/2020/09/18/trump-contradicts-cdc-pledging-100-million-vaccines-in-2020/

President Donald Trump touted vaccine distribution plans in a Friday news conference and pledged 100 million vaccine doses by the year’s end, a promise that contradicts the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s most optimistic projections.

“We will have manufactured at least 100 million vaccine doses before the end of the year, and likely much more than that,” Trump said. “We expect to have enough vaccines for every American by April.”

The promise of 100 million vaccine doses this year represents the president’s latest contradiction of his own public health agency, and follows a week in which Trump repeatedly challenged CDC Director Robert Redfield about the importance of masks and when most Americans can expect a vaccine.

“We essentially have it,” the president said of a vaccine Friday. “We’ll be announcing it fairly soon.”

But the testing protocols for the two vaccines furthest along in clinical trials, manufactured by Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech, which were released Thursday, show that analysis of the data will likely stretch into December 2020 and early 2021.

Internal CDC documents posted by The New York Times show that under the most optimistic scenario, if the two vaccines both prove to be safe and effective on an accelerated timeline, 35 million to 45 million doses could be available by late December. If just one of the vaccines is seen as safe and effective, only 20 million to 30 million doses will be available and if just the other vaccine is authorized, 15 million doses will be available, according to the documents. The internal documents were independently confirmed by CQ Roll Call as authentic.

And that is exactly what this is. There is not one word of truth in what he says. Nobody is thanking him because he has done NOTHING and in fact has fucked up efforts to get this pandemic under control once again. He only makes things worse, never better.

I so can't wait until he is gone. I will be even happier when he is behind bars and what will make me happiest of all is when he is six-feet under and we never have to see or hear from him again.
