Funny, yes. But also disturbing.

Before he declared he was running for potus back in 2015, I had never paid much attention to Donald Trump. I knew that he was a pompous, arrogant asshole, an impression that was solidified by all the birther nonsense he went out of his way to promulgate starting in 2011. But I didn't pay much actual attention to him except when he was running his ugly orange mouth about Obama's birth certificate. Not until he went after the Repug nomination and was on the news every day saying and doing outrageously offensive things.

Even then, I thought he was more of a joke than anything else, All during the campaign, I was mindboggled by his behavior on a daily basis, but I never really took him seriously, until he snagged the Repug nomination. And even then, the idea that he might actually win the election seemed unimaginable. Unfortunately, I turned out to be completely wrong, as we all know.

Watching this video made me relalize just how desensitized I've become, after all the crazy we've been through. It was deja vu for me, bringing back all the feelings of being utterly mind boggled, gobsmacked, and horrified that I experienced over and over back in 2015 and 2016 and during the early days of his presiDUNCEy. Somewhere along the line, I gradually went from being dumbfounded to numbed, rolling my eyes and thinking, "There he goes AGAIN" when he would pull yet another ridiculous stunt. Viewing this video, though, brought all those early emotions back with a vengeance. It really smacks you right in the face with how utterly ridiculous Chump is, and it also smacked me in the face with the fact I had gotten a little too *shudder* used to him without realizing it. I am deeply, profoundly glad that he is not going to be potus much longer.

It may get ugly (uglier?) before it's over, but it WILL be over soon. Less than 3 weeks to go. We're going to make it, friends. We are.

I knew Donald Trump only as an oddity that occasionally showed up on the news for some bizarre reason. I remember being shocked that networks even gave him airtime, he was so ridiculous in his behavior and appearance. The fact that such a goofy sideshow act could win over 60 million votes was appalling to me and I still can't wrap my head around it. I have tried and tried, but for the life of me, I cannot see what those people see.

This video does sum it up so well and it is a reminder that we must never forget. If it happened once, it could happen again and the next time it could be someone worse.

Trump is a narcissist with Dunning-Kruger Syndrome. He believes he knows everything and I mean everything and that others know nothing. He is very dangerous because he has had a lot of power for the past 4 years. He has always believed he is all powerful and cannot believe he will not get his way. He has lied, cheated and conned his way through life. He is not successful, failed businesses, bankruptcies, etc. He has never paid for his supplies, that he imported from China. He has never paid his contractors or workers.

Yet, he has this kind of charisma that attract a lot of people, because he expresses ideas that resonate with them such as racism, violence, scorn for people and so on. He cannot admit he lost the election, this is humiliating for him. It is what we professionals call a narcissistic injury. I had a client who suffered one of these. He told me two different versions of what he had eaten for breakfast and I pointed that out to him. He was deeply humiliated and would not come back to therapy. He chose to go back to prison rather than face me again because therapy was a condition of his parole. He went back and served 13 years in state prison. Trump is like this guy.

Trump is dangerous. He never should have been elected president. He should have been removed by the impeachment or the 25 Amendment. In these last days he is very dangerous. People are dying, vaccines are not being distributed in an efficient manner, he is talking about war and he is messing with the military.

President Biden has a huge job. He is facing a country in crisis, a pandemic, unemployment, a crippled economy, crippled foreign relations and lots more. I have every confidence in him. He will save the Democracy that Trump has tried destroy.
