Josh Marshall at TPM makes a key point...

You can see our write-up of President Trump’s irate call to the Georgia Secretary of State threatening him with jail if he didn’t change the poll results to give the state to President Trump. If you haven’t I recommend listening to the actual audio which has been released. As is often the case, seeing the words on paper doesn’t convey quite totality of it. Again, listen to the audio. It will bring it home in a deeper way.

There’s an additional substantive point I want to draw your attention to. We know President Trump acts like a thug. This is almost a literal replay of the Zelensky phone call which got Trump impeached. But there’s something more. This is a private call. It’s not for public consumption. This isn’t about stoking grievances for 2024 or maintaining control over the post-presidency GOP. President Trump is clearly very intent on remaining in office past January 20th and desperate to do so. He doesn’t think this is a closed question. He’s willing to do anything to remain in office and he believes enough threats can get him there.

We've been going on too long rationalizing Mad King Donald's behavior on the cynical grounds that "it's all about raising money from his followers" or "he's just doing this to run in 2024." Nope. MKD is a cornered rat -- he knows his only two options are to find a way to hold onto power indefinitely or wind up in prison. No other way out. We need to be prepared for him to do anything and everything between now and noon on January 20th to stay in power -- and that includes waking up that morning, declaring "I'm not going down," and calling out the troops. Anything is possible, and I won't relax until Biden has finished taking the oath. Until then, consider ourselves in "Code Red."

Trump will do whatever he has to to retain the Oval Office.

In the 2016 primaries "oh, this can't go on with Trump. It's fleeting. He'll never win the nomination ...."

The media has constantly underestimated the man.

Everyone lately kind of says "well, he can't do that, it is not legal" but Trump doesn't abide by the law or regulations. He's a chronically dishonest crook. Law and facts are just nuisances he has to work around.

The Proud Boys will be in Washington, DC Jan 6th.
He has plans to remain in power.
Hopefully, those plans are as stupid as he is.
But I won't believe it until I see it.

He had the chance to remove T----, but chose party over country.

Make him do it again! And let the protesters show up on his lawn.

Paul Ryan and his House enabled him, then Mitch, then Barr and then every other GOP traitor joined them.
