Donald Trump 'could ditch inauguration' with Turnberry trip'

By Jody Harrison @jodeharrisonHT Reporter

The outgoing President has links to Prestwick as the owner of the nearby Trump Turnberry golf resort.

Speculation is mounting that US President Donald Trump could be planning to snub the inauguration of successor Joe Biden - by flying to Scotland.

President Trump has made no secret of his disdain for his election loss, and continues to dispute the result which saw his Democratic challenger elected to the White House by a record margin of votes.

Now Prestwick Airport has been told to expect the arrival of a US military Boeing 757 aircraft which has been occasionally used by Trump, on January 19 – the day before Mr Biden takes over.

This chimes with reports in the US that Trump will announce a 2024 re-election bid during a flight on one of the President’s official Air Force One planes on inauguration day.

and the UK has an extradition treaty with the U.S. I'm sure they'd be happy to send him back. And now that they are on lockdown again they might not even let him in.

............. Every plane Trump flies in has a special call sign, including his own personal Boeing 757, which has the call sign Tyson 1.

Air traffic controllers receive details of the arrival of a plane with a US special call sign weeks in advance but are not told exactly which plane when the booking is made.

A source at Prestwick airport, who asked to remain anonymous, told the Sunday Post: “There is a booking for an American military version of the Boeing 757 on January 19, the day before the inauguration.

“That’s one that’s normally used by the Vice-President but often used by the First Lady. Presidential flights tend to get booked far in advance, because of the work that has to be done around it.”

After noon on the 20th fire up the plane and leave him there. He has his own plane if he wants to get back.

6. How does this work? Is the plane just going to drop him off and come home?

I mean, it has to. It will be technically Biden's plane, right? I feel like Trump is going to REALLY mentally crack when he no longer has the position with all the benefits of that position. When he has to go back to normal life, it will destroy him.

13. No. I hear there is a raffle in SS as to who will be able to gently shove his ass out the plane.

...I doubt the loss of AF1 will bother him otherwise. He's already said that it was a "dump" (probably not enough gold leaf) compared to his own personal 757 -- popularly known as "Hair Force One" -- and that he was upset that the Secret Service made him use the official state aircraft, because his didn't have the requisite security countermeasures.

In many ways, I'm sure he'd be happier going back to his pre-presidential life (if he were allowed to do so, which is unlikely once prosecutors get to work on his many cases), but the one overriding factor is that he'll be thinking everyone sees him as a "loser"...and he was well-trained by his father to consider that the most shameful of all fates.

Nicola Sturgeon: "When you do go out, stay as close to home as possible and stay away from crowded places. And it remains the case that no-one is allowed to travel into or out of Scotland unless it is for an essential purpose."

Covid in Scotland: What are the latest lockdown rules?
https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-53166816

What are the rules on travel?

People living under level three or four restrictions should not travel outside their own local authority area for anything other than "essential" reasons.

The exceptions to this law include travelling for work, education, outdoor exercise, healthcare or caring responsibilities, essential shopping or visiting someone in your extended household.

It is illegal to travel between Scotland and other parts of the UK unless the journey is essential.

The Scottish government strongly advises against non-essential foreign travel, and the tougher restrictions mean that non-essential travel into and out of Scotland is prohibited.
