Never Seen This Before: Dems Unleash an Army in Georgia
'WE GET IT!'
Democratic canvassers in Georgia are determined to get every last voter out for Tuesdays runoff election, even it means returning to their doorsteps over and over again.

We get it! said the man. Nothing against you all, personally. Were good. We know what we need to do.
That scene was repeated around the neighborhood. When MacDonalds colleague, Hannah Bauman, knocked on the door of a stately home a few blocks away, a voice materialized out of a virtual doorbell to ask: Are you from one of the 50 organizations thats been here 50 times?
Bauman explained to the woman that her voter file showed the address was home to a person who hadnt yet voted. The woman on the other end, though annoyed, promised that shed remind them to show up on Tuesday.
But if the voters in Grayson felt a little smothered by the attention, it meant the canvassers were doing their jobs. Over the past two months, Democrats have knocked on millions of doors around the state in an effort to win Georgias pair of runoff elections and take control of the U.S. Senate.
In order to reach the millions of voters needed to be successful, Democrats have had to reintegrate traditional campaigning methods like door knockingwhich they largely eschewed this year because of the pandemicinto a strategy that had, at least until Nov. 3, been mostly conducted online and over the phone.
On Monday, a leader in the canvassing effortthe advocacy group New Georgia Project, which was founded by Democrat Stacey Abramsknocked on its two-millionth door in the state, according to executive director Nse Ufot. Ahead of the November election, they had only knocked on 400,000 doors.

(21,408 posts)with all of the attention Trump put on Georgia rigging the election, this election will most likely be as fair an election as ever in Georgia.
Thank you MF45 for shining a light on the election, it make it harder for Republicans to cheat.
Sending out positive thoughts into the universe over Georgia.

reported this morning that 198,000 voters had been illegally purged from the Georgia rolls by Raffensberger. Mostly brown and black voters. Surprise. Surprise.
198,000 is huge.
The show's reporter said that the Trump pressure call had gone too far into illegality for Raffensberger but he's a deep Trump loyalist and has done what he can, under cover, to screw Georgia and Democracy.
Thank God for Stacy Abrams who may yet out-register these criminals.

(1,295 posts)It would be very bad news if it came afterward, but if not, hopefully we will pull together (and add to) the majority that helped Biden carry the state.

They're not playing around down there in Georgia. I did my calls over the computer from 6:30pm to 9. But, like you, I'd rather hit the streets....

(41,174 posts)more in Georgia fighting the good fight. Stacey A. has been a treasure and powerhouse there and for the party overall.
We've travelled on the way to Fla. through coastal Ga. and briefly saw St. Mary's City near Cumberland Isl. and lovely Savannah. I have a 100 year old aunt in Albany who I've talked to on the phone but never met. She's a very sharp lady with humor, educated at Rollins College, says she's 'a mountain woman'. Lol.
I've been fortunate to see President Carter three times, met him once. Thanks again and see you around!

(43,296 posts)I suppose the intensity and length of the campaign is daunting, but she just didn't exude confidence in my view. Like the polls are not quite what she hoped for. Anyone else see the interview?
But this GOTV is really good news because this is what we heard in 2018 for Connor Lamb and Doug Jones. Runoffs and special elections allow full focus on the races, and we out number them so we have the legs to pound the pavement!

but I didn't think there was a a lack of confidence. I did think she had a lot of things on her mind , though. She looked terrific.

(16,529 posts)I thought she looked as confident as she ever has, and excited.
She'd be nuts not to feel some stress, considering how much is riding on this, though. Maybe that's what you were picking up on.

(35,740 posts)Since I can't canvas, being in NJ.
My brother, spouse, and I each donated $100 toward the 2 candidates and that was after the election. Since that time we have each received at least one weekly email or text asking for more.
My brother and spouse complained but I said just delete 'em and shut up. They're doing everything they can and that's what is important.

(581 posts)I imagine this must be effective, but it can be aggravating. I've never been called more than I've been called this year, and in the last two months. One of the wildcards in this race will be the turnout of Asian-Americans, who over-performed in the general. Like the Latino community, they aren't monolithic, and probably usually lean Republican, particularly Korean-American entrepreneurs. The strange resignation of the U.S. Attorney for North Georgia had it happened earlier, might have had a huge impact on those voters, although it still could. The final numbers in this race are going to be very interesting.

(16,793 posts)The infrastructure is in place to continue the work towards 2022 mid terms. The focus is on keeping the Truth coming, registering new voters who will be 18 in Nov. of 2022, recruiting good candidates to run against Seditious Republicans, etc.
