If DC had open carry laws? Gun laws saved the US legislative branch

Even if concealed carry permits were allowed. Or how about “Stand Your Ground” laws. What would be the estimated body count?
Now please tell me why these law exist everywhere else.
Gun laws saved the life’s of every single member of congress and the Vice President this week.

Last weapon count I saw was 5 including a long gun. This was very bad but it was not a gun event.

If they had guns they would have used them against the capitol police.

The most popular being the death of Trevon Martin an unarmed teenager in Florida who was shot and killed George Zimmerman. Trevon was suspected of being dangerous because he wore a hoody. Google it

..but that was the chant of several of the rioters / terrorist / MAGAts.
There is a capitol policeman dead and the police were blamed for the riot by the people that stormed the US Capitol that has been closed to the public since March! Just walking past the barricades was trespassing.
They used shields to break windows, picked up barricades to knock down police. More than several videos show them threatening to come back with guns. What about the zip ties and hand cuffs that were pictured being carried by rioters, what do you suggest the purpose for that was?
The entire point is that if they had weapons then they would very likely have killed members of congress.
I don’t know how much simpler it can be explained to you.

I took exception to the Stand You Ground part of your posting. I can see you are quite wrapped up in your theory. So, I will agree that IF they had access to guns any thing might have happened. If guns had been involved, a bad situation would have been worse.

This is a very difficult time for the United States. We are close to a significant fracture. I have been reading highly charged posts for two days. I think law enforcement will find and deal with many culprits. It is time we cool off

Not just talking about those that stormed the Capitol. Those people have been blinded by lies and made to believe that they were the only protectors of democracy when the truth was that they were the pawns to destroy democracy. There was an organized invasion on the Capitol during a joint session of congress where 4 direct leaders in the order of succession were in one room.
The is no point in having laws if there is no penalty and no point to a penalty unless it is enforced. In essence there is no law at all, and a civilization without laws is chaos.

Certain other societies may respect the rule of force--we respect the rule of law.

Storm the Capitol and kill members of Congress won't want to break any gun laws

There were several arrests for weapons including guns, bombs and molotov cocktails, the latter two being illegal everywhere.
