Republican senators regret not doing more

BY ALEXANDER BOLTON - 01/07/21 08:54 PM EST

... One Republican senator who requested anonymity .. acknowledged GOP lawmakers should have served as a stronger check on the president ...

... A second Republican senator who requested anonymity said Trump had inflicted serious damage on his party ...

There were exceptions though, such as when Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), said Trump appeared “unsympathetic” after peaceful protesters were pepper sprayed in front of the White House in June ...

... said. “This was really a riot. He should have shown more disdain for the rioters. I don’t want to say he should have apologized .. but he should have expressed more disdain.”

Their courage takes our breath away!

Repeat after ne, "I was dead wrong not to vote for impeachment, but would be honored to do so now. Democratic leaders were correct & McConnell & my Repuke party were wrong!"

party..." And that sums it up folks. That one sentence illustrates just how damaging the reTHUG philosophy
is. Now they're concerned with how tRUMP has damaged THEM. They have no concern about what damage
tRUMP has done to this country and its people or other countries and people around the world.

tRUMP and the reTHUGS have done considerable damage to themselves and the rest of us though to
them "the rest of us" are only collateral damage. We have to make sure they never hold power of any kind
again.

It’s almost as if Republicans actively recruited weak willed, morally bankrupt, subservient toadies to run for office.

Defending the Constitution should not be such a hard decision as republicans make it. No more whatabouts, strawmen or weaselwords. Are you for the violent terroristic overthrow of the United States or not?

The threat of a real investigation and the need to play nice in order to be a factor at all going forward is what is driving their so-called enlightenment.

Twitter, Facebook, sad Republicans, media, big business, Cabinet members who have "had enough"--all of them--would still be complicit with Trump had the Republicans maintained control.

What bullshit.

Stacey Abrams may have saved Democracy. She has a place in history.

and maybe 1/2 the other. And the few who were public about it (save for Rmoney) made sure to toss the obligatory insult at Democrats, as if that absolved them somehow. Some have already doubled down again.
