I think Mitch is playing us for fools, again,

Remember trump recently stopped an IG investigating him and his wife. God only knows how much trump and Putin got on them, and they're both too compromised to go against their demands. Mitch is playing us now with excuses, then after the trial he'll produce more excuses using something to claim he can't be convicted. I don 't trust someone like Mitch, especially with thus. I think the NY Times article was for distraction.

Exactly why she didn't cave in to pressure to rush articles of impeachment over to Mitch so that he could bury them.

When are people going to figure out that Pelosi knows this game better than anyone and she's a master at it?

and stopped as much as they could. It was impressive and then despite the gerrymandering in multiple states won the house. Trump should never have been elected in the first place. Those who did not vote for our Democratic nominee put us in this position-not Democratic leaders who came through in a big way.

This delay may give Democrats the Senate majority during the impeachment trial, which gives them control of the trial procedure. A Senate impeachment trial has special legal powers...powers that were denied to the House managers by a craven majority of Republican Senators. Powers to pierce Presidential privilege and classification of records, and compel witnesses to testify under oath.

By delaying, McConnell may actually be handing these powers to the House managers.

by abdicating responsibility to the Democratic party repukes get to play victim to the vindictiveness of Dems while claiming they purged the party of its ruthless white supremacy. Neither is true, of course, but repukes just need the illusion of truth to con their victims who fall for the con decade after decade.

We need to show trump as a traitor and move on quickly. People are dying and need help. We need to get some policy done. We could lose the House and Senate in two years. And we need unity. I sincerely hope Sen Duckworth and Sen Warren do not oppose Biden's historic defense pick.

I strongly intuit you are correct. It's exactly how I was feeling on the onset of that report. How could any of us believe otherwise given his history throughout his tenure as Leader of the Senate?

I can see why Democrats impeached him but they knew there was only a small chance of conviction. Democrats were not fooled and did their duty.

5-10 current sitting congress people if they aided/planned the insurrection at the Capitol and would be a HUGE rebuke of the Republican party.

Yes the immediate security of the inauguration is of concern but there will be 20,000 troops deployed to make sure Pres Biden is safe.

Mark my words: Republicans are purposely shoving the Trial off so that they can just claim that convicting Trump is just a moot point and if he decides to immediately launch a 2024 campaign, they will claim that we are using the impeachment/trial to harass a political opponent. I know that Dems won't blink but Republicans will use this to whip up their voters and show their fealty to Trump.
