Some in the GOP parrot far-right talk of a coming civil war

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — War-like imagery has begun spreading in Republican circles after the attack on the U.S. Capitol by a mob of President Donald Trump’s supporters, with some elected officials and party leaders rejecting pleas to tone down rhetoric calling for a second civil war.

In northwestern Wisconsin, the chairman of the St. Croix County Republican Party was forced to resign Friday after refusing for a week after the siege to remove an online post urging followers to “prepare for war.” The incoming chairwoman of the Michigan GOP and her husband, a state lawmaker, have joined a conservative social media site created after the Capitol riot where the possibility of civil war is a topic.

Phil Reynolds, a member of the GOP central committee in California’s Santa Clara County, appeared to urge on insurrectionists on social media during the Jan. 6 attack, declaring on Facebook: “The war has begun. Citizens take arms! Drumroll please….. Civil War or No Civil War?”

The heightened rhetoric mimics language far-right extremists and white supremacists have used for years, and it follows a year of civil unrest over the killing of George Floyd, a Black man, by a white police officer and its links to systemic racism. Some leftists have used similar language, which Republicans have likened to advocating a new civil war.

Trump's repeated lies about the election being "stolen" is the biggest instigation, of course.

If Clinton had kept screaming similar lies, there might have been a few Democrats ready to kill over it. Maybe not so many because Democrats tend to be far less gullible than right-wingers, and Clinton isn't a lying sack of shit like Trump.

My oldest brother attended an evangelical church with a neighbor woman a few years after 9/11, and he was shocked to hear other people in that church (before the service started) talking about the supposed need for a Civil War to rid this country of all Muslims and the Democrats who supposedly supported them "taking over". My brother never went back, of course, despite further invitations.

- What side are “they” on? Is that the Trump side v United States? So this is a Trump v Biden?
That does mean Biden gets the US military, national guard and all their bases equipment and supplies?
- What territory would they be claiming as their own?
- What does victory look like, to reinstate Trump as King?
- Who are they going after and where do they find them?
- Is this a civil war to be fought on the weekends, while they go to their jobs and get paid each week?
- is Trump providing them with vehicles, tanks, gins and ammo, or do they pack their own in the mini-Van?
- where will they sleep? Certainly not any marble floor like the national guard.
How often do they eat and where will that be?
Don’t you think that they will surrender when their phones and WiFi get shut off not to mention lose their jobs, utilities homes and starve after just the 1st couple of weeks?
Trump surrendered and asked for peace when they shut down his Twitter. Do you think he is still your Holy leader for a civil war?
