Reagan sold arms to Contra and put crack cocaine into US pipeline, he failed to realy balance the budget because his math was inferior (You take half for this, half for that and half for.... ???) and because of Star Wars spending and HE closed several mental institutions which basically put the insane poor out on the street....

Per the CATO institute Reagan actually did GOOD when he - cut the top individual tax rate from 70 percent to 28 percent and the corporate rate from 46 percent to 34 percent.

So the money that was "saved" in tax cuts had to be pulled up somewhere. SPARE the rich and bleed the poor...

23. It actually started long before that

Cracks started appearing in the 1940s, and the first break happened in 1948 when Truman desegregated the armed forces. The Dixiecrats showed up in the election that year. The Civil Rights Act cemented the break, but it took a long time - Democrats controlled Mississippi’s legislature until 2010.

Democrats know the history of our party. We know that in the 1850s and 1860s, the Democrats were the conservatives who wanted to perpetuate slavery. We know that Southern Democrats created Jim Crow in the early 1900s.

We also know that Democrats became the party of civil rights in the 1960s and have been fighting for ordinary citizens for a long time. We acknowledge our party’s past sins and work to correct those mistakes. Republicans, not so much.
