1961 -- U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower delivers a televised farewell address to the nation three days before leaving office, in which he warns against the accumulation of power by the "military–industrial complex" as well as the dangers of massive spending, especially deficit spending.

The U.S. spends more than the top 10 countries in the world on "defense". But our greatest enemy is from within, guided by our greatest foe from outside, while he's not spending a dime on expensive traditional military costs to do it. More than anything the military-industrial complex is a funnel from taxpayers to the wealthiest, enabled by those inside and outside of it.
