Again, this is basically extortionate: Sorry, no unity until the demands for accountability are dropped. The answer to this is "No. You are the ones who have committed the offense. You don't get to set one-sided conditions for unity after what you did." https://washingtonpost.com/opinions/2021/01/12/republicans-must-unambiguously-admit-that-trumps-lies-threaten-more-violence/

My letter to Democratic Leader Schumer.
The Senate should vote to dismiss the article of impeachment once it is received in the Senate. We will be delaying indefinitely, if not forever, the healing of this great Nation if we do otherwise.

(63,221 posts)I am tired of him holding this country hostage because of his fear of exposure. Expose him already and remove the threat. Once he has nothing left to lose, he will not have to kiss Trump's ass any longer.

(9,983 posts)is that remora going to try to attach himself to now?
Interesting fact: Although it was initially believed that remoras fed off particulate matter from the host's meals, this has been shown to be false; in reality, their diets are composed primarily of host feces
So now you know.

(21,577 posts)if you aren't familiar with the twitter term "ratio", if a tweet has a lot more replies then it does retweets/favorites (which this tweet does), it means that the tweet is despised by nearly everyone reading it.
in other words, this is going very badly for Lindsay
as of this post the tweet has 13000 replies 2300 retweet and 3600 favorites

I didn't say anything about what I think will happen. My post above was a counter-argument to Lindsey Graham's argument that Trump's crimes should be ignored and remain unpunished so that this great nation can "heal". I'm simply saying that a nation that ignores the crimes of its leaders and leaves them unpunished can not call itself a great nation.

(68,586 posts)I didn't say ignore it. I said delay it...then move fast have all your ducks in a row...call what witnesses you can...get in and get out. We don't need to spend enormous amounts of time which we don't have in order to attempt to gain votes in the Senate, I don't think we can get or to persuade Trumpers that Trump is a traitor which is not likely either although true.
Let's try to spend as much time fixing the pandemic, ACA, economy, civil rights, and lets work tirelessly on green jobs...we really have to try to save the house in 22 or we are shut down...we have to assume we will lose the house and work on our top priorities in the limited amount of time we may have.

(68,586 posts)my head on a nearby wall. We'll show them how? Every minute we spend on this more than we have to in order to hold Trump accountable...is a minute we don't get policy. If we go all in and spend months on this...Joe Biden's presidency will be ruined in terms of policy. And I think we lose the House in 22 and maybe the Senate and the presidency in 24. Trump is not worth that.

(68,586 posts)package and his cabinet in place. Time is precious. I don't want to see us with nothing in terms of policy in the end. I have to tell you, I don't think we get 17 votes from the GOP Mitch/Lucy has the football once again and his desire is to harm Biden not Trump. I also fear it will make Trump a sympathetic figure in a nation that wants to move on. Get in and get out...don't draw this out. I know some of you believe that if we present evidence why Trump will be destroyed. It should work, but it won't There is no evidence that will sway hardcore Trump voters and the GOP elected really with the exception of a few don't care. Justice demands this but we can't sacrifice our presidential term for Trump. Every minute this goes on Trump is in the news and his follower get riled up all over again. And as we approach the midterms the GOP will not cooperate on anything.

Lindsey Graham says he's spoken with multiple battleground state officials about ballot counting
Christal Hayes
USA TODAY Nov 17, 2020
WASHINGTON Sen. Lindsey Graham, a key ally of the president, said he has spoken with officials in a number of key states about the presidential election and ballot counting, raising questions about the senator's role as President Donald Trump continues to promote baseless claims about voter fraud.
Georgias Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger accused Graham Monday of pressuring him to find ways to exclude or invalidate legally cast absentee ballots and reverse Trumps loss in the state, an accusation the South Carolina Republican called "ridiculous."
Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill Tuesday that he has also talked with officials in Arizona and Nevada, specifically asking questions about the process for validating signatures on ballots. Graham said he spoke with Arizonas Republican Gov. Doug Ducey and an official in Nevada whose name he could not recall.

Sounds like GA should file charges against Lindsey Graham as well as trump, and perhaps other states as well. There has to be pushback against this behavior or it will happen again and again.

(90,773 posts)holding them accountable delays the healing of their victim.
Anyone that knows anything at all about rape knows accountability is part of the healing process for the victim. An important part. Merely the chance to name your rapist in court goes a long way toward taking back your life.
Let's take our democracy back. Name names. Say what they did. Hold them accountable.
