COVID-19 Vaccine Dilemma

I am currently have lymphoma and is paramount that I will have treatment soon.

My dilemma.
My doctor has informed me that if I have treatment, then I would have to wait until 3 months after finishing treatment to get the vaccine.
Also, I would be at greater risk of COVID-19 due to the nature of the treatment.

Wait for treatment after getting the vaccine.
But I would need to wait 2 weeks after getting the final dosage.
Waiting may not be a good option either.

In my view this is the real deal.
I started taking it about a month ago, as did my sister and BIL.

I would not begin to advise you on medical matters, but here is an article you might find interesting. I have been to this clinic and got to know this delightful woman.

you can get the vaccine. If that’s tomorrow you’d start lymphoma treatment in 6 weeks. If the vaccine is weeks out....Best advice I got when I was diagnosed with breast cancer was it’s not an emergency. There’s time to make decisions. I’d ask your doctor what’s the longest you can safely delay treatment.

On edit
Another option would be to get one dose of the vaccine ASAP. It gives 52% protection. Not ideal but might make up for the hit your immune system would take from the lymphoma treatment. You could start treatment for lymphoma in 2 weeks.

What type of lymphoma do you have? Some are more aggressive than others.

What were the numbers on your PET scan? This will show how aggressive your particular lymphoma is.

If yours is an aggressive lymphoma, then I wouldn't wait for the vaccine. You may or may not come down with COVID if you don't get the vaccine, but an aggressive lymphoma will definitely cause problems if you don't treat it ASAP.

Of course, YMMV. Every cancer journey is, ultimately, a personal one.
