Keep in mind that President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration celebration is being closed to the public because of the insurrection that Trump encouraged his followers to commit on January 6. At this time, over 20,000 National Guard troops will be on patrol in Washington D.C. and the FBI is tracking threats of violence for Trump supporters and other right-wingers who believe the president's repeatedly disproven claims that Biden stole the election through an unprecedented nationwide conspiracy of voter fraud.

(12,586 posts)Traditionally, the outgoing president attends the inauguration (or he has for the past 150 years), after which -- as a courtesy -- the new president allows him the use of the helicopter and an airplane to get where he wants to go. No 21-gun salute, red carpet, or military band. He just leaves the stage quietly, and lets his successor assume the mantle of the presidency.
Trump does not want to leave Washington as ex-president, and he has said he definitely does not want to ask Biden to borrow Air Force One, which shows how ignorant he is about how the call sign is used to indicate the president is aboard.
If he's in the air when Biden is sworn in, the new commander-in-chief can recall the airplane to Andrews without landing in Florida. If Fat Donnie refuses to disembark, then arrest his fat ass.

(1,850 posts)I was concerned, as well as appalled when I heard 45 wanted a military send-off, complete with flyovers. I thought of suicide bombers, as on 9/11, and that would be the way to obliterate the crowd and the protected podium. An authorized flyover would not be considered a breach of the nofly zone. I am so relieved they said no!
