Yasmin Vossoughian just gave a thoughtful retrospective of the Trump era

On msnbc just now. Not amazingly insightful, nothing we didn’t know here, but it was heartfelt and quite real. Worth finding if you have two or three minutes.

She traced the recent violence, especially the racist stuff, as beginning with that infamous downward escalator trip in 2015. It can be argued that it really began on January 19, 2009, when McConnell announced that every Obama effort would be obstructed; and that remark was heard by every white supremacist as "we aren't going to let this black guy do anything." And they kept getting that message for eight years, during which period Trump became the pre-eminent birther, further seeding the racist field. So when he got to the bottom of that escalator, he merely reaped the harvest of the crop that McConnell had helped to replant.
